Geography
Located on the southwestern coast of Thailand, Krabi town is 814 km south of Bangkok and 330 km north of the Malaysia border. The closest international airport is in Phuket, 155 km around Phang-nga Bay to the west.

Climate
Average year-round temperature is 28 degrees Celsius. The dry season is from late November to early April and the monsoon season is from September to late November.

Best time to visit
Comfortable throughout the year, but late November to Apirl, (after the torrential monsoons), is the best time although that is also the high season. Many hotels give discounts during the low season, from June to October.

       Getting there
Hotels provide transfer to and from Phuket airport for fees ranging from 1,000 Baht . An air-conditioned bus service runs from downtown Phuket to Krabi town for 600 Baht. In Krabi a pick-up truck runs from Krabi town to outlying beaches for 15 Baht.

Where to eat
The hotels offer good Thai cuisine and many have a seafood barbecue available. For an inexpensive, simple meal in AoNang, there is a strip of restaurants opposite the beach which offer local and regional food. Try Ao Nang Cuisine, which has the most comprehensive menu, but all restaurants in this strip are good. The bars next door offer a form of relaxation atmosphere without resorting to go-go dancers.

What to do
Nothing. Boats are available to take you to a secluded beach and leave you there until evening. For those wishing more activity, boats can take you out to the Phi Phi islands where coral reefs and wrecks offer some of the best scuba-diving in Thailand.
