Koh Tao lies surrounded by the calm expanse of the Gulf of Thailand. Rugged shorelines of granite boulders shelter isolated stretches of sandy beaches and shallow reefs ring the island. These same characteristics that several decades ago saw Koh Tao selected as an inaccessible, rugged prison camp now draw travelers to the beauties of an isolated, tropical paradise.

Over the past few years access to the island has improved dramatically and accommodation availability and standards have grown to meet the increased demand as Koh Tao has become one of the must stop destinations on the backpacker route around South East Asia. Many travelers on a stop-over to or from Australia, or as the major destination of their travels, find Koh Tao convenient, fun and peaceful. From Bangkok an overnight bus or train journey brings you to the seaport town of Chumporn where, other than the ice boat that traditionally supplied Koh Tao with food and a handful of sturdy backpackers, regular speed boat and ferry services depart for a direct link to Koh Tao. Others choose to approach Koh Tao from the south, flying directly to the nearby island of Koh Samui or island hopping from the mainland port of Suratthani across Koh Samui and Koh Phangnan, the site of a famous full moon party every month. Buddha View Dive Resort runs speed boat links from both Chumporn and Koh Samui. With an on-site travel agent and connections with several travel agents in Bangkok and Koh Samui we are happy and equipped to help you organize your travel arrangements to and from your holiday on Koh Tao.
